Swearing In Ceremony

After 10 years of schooling, work experience and testing I am officially a licensed Interior Designer! Here I am being sworn in with the other candidate. On a side note, I also do solemnly swear to fit into HIS jeans in the next few months! Geez!

Baby Spencer is Here!

Spencer Tag

Photography by Tracey Lee

Two weeks ago today, we welcomed Spencer Tag into our family! With three boys on our hands we think we might need to be done, if you know what I mean. I've given myself a little grace with the blog and I thank you faithful readers for sticking with me even when I don't show my face for awhile. I hope to kick off the new year with some beautifully designed content and hope that you all enjoy it. Wishing you a wonderful New Years!

It's Raining, It's Pouring

Scotland Collage
images via we heart it & design sponge

It's been raining all week in Las Vegas which is nothing short of a miracle. It's cool and green and smells like the wet desert. It makes for a yummy Friday afternoon is all I'm saying. What must it be like to live somewhere like Washington, Oregon, Ireland or Scotland? I'm sure I romanticize the rain but what do you readers think who live in it all of the time? I'm sincerely curious. Is it love or hate? Wishing you all a rainy, comfy, cozy weekend!

Jim LePage

Word: Jonah

Sometimes you are rewarded for wasting time on the internet. Sometimes you bump into talent, creativity and passion. Sometimes you bump into Jim LePage. This talented graphic/web artist and "church communications thinker" from St. Paul is graphically representing each book of the Bible and I dig it! He is posting a new piece of work each Friday here. You should check it out and you should even buy something. I'm trying to narrow down my favorites pieces. It's even making me want to read the Bible and although I've been a Christian since I was drinking chocolate milk through a swirly straw this is still a daily battle. Yea for Jim! Yea for God!

Inspirational Blogging Imagery

Norway, weheartit

I suppose this post is a sneak peak into a great new inspiration for design and specifically my blog. Some days it's hard to come up with something to share with you and when you find a website that has beautiful images it really helps! My new find is weheartit. If you are a blogger you will love this site. Today, I typed in the word, "Norway" and wahlah gorgeous, inspirational imagery to fuel the imagination. Go try it, you will waste the morning.

Jerry Misko's Art

Jerry Misko Art

Jerry Misko is a local Las Vegas artist who does awesome work. I have always loved our iconic signage (really meaning to take a tour of The Neon Museum) and love that you can bring a piece of our local history into your home by buying a piece of Misko's work. He is one of our most celebrated artists and I wanted to share his work with you. Enjoy!

Orla Kiely Design Bike

Orla Kiely

While doing a little research on oilcloth I bumped right into Irish designer, Orla Kiely. I recognized her sweet patterns and then immediately fell in love with this bike she designed for UK National Bike Week. My husband is training for a 100 mile+ bike ride and has some scary looking contraption he promises is a bike. I'm not into it. At all. This is my kind of cruiser. I bet it's yours too.

Studying

raoulcampaign4
photography by Marcelo Krasilcic

Morning people! I just want to let you know I'll be taking the week off to study for my NCIDQ practicum on Saturday. I'll be back full force next week and will let you know how it all went down. And yes, I will totally be wearing a silk romper, a smoky eye and my hair in a pouf while I study- how dare you think otherwise.

"Welcome to My Shiny World"

Toni Hart with his weapon of choice

Now, normally this would fall under the "Oh No You Didn't" series but I'm from Las Vegas and this house is from one of the oldest (and coolest) neighborhoods in Vegas. Featured in the New York Times Home & Garden section, the Hart family proudly shows off their penchant for all things glitzy and hot glued! Now, I'm not stupid, obviously the NYT is laughing their arses off at us but I feel a smidge protective of these people and their ridiculous "mansion." It sort of falls under the rule that you can certainly make fun of your own family but God help the stranger who talks trash about them. It's just so over the top and well- hot glued that it's almost awesome. Almost. P.S. I'll offer the Harts a discount on my services.

Toni Hart made the drapery, upholstery and bedspread with his now famous glue gun.
I always said I could build a house with a glue gun!

The bedspread weighs 35 lbs.

Look! It's a pink bathroom.

I'm diggin on those green wing backs. I'm not kidding.

Notice the rouched silk taffeta at the ceiling.

Mrs. Hart is an ordained minister and performs wedding ceremonies at their indoor pool. Sweet!

I heart the Harts.

Again, the piano is crazy cool and it truly sets off that Glamor shot!

Bas Koopmans Will Make Ya Wanna Jump Jump

These hand drawn posters by Designer, Bas Koopmans are beyond cool (if you are a child of the eighties and nineties). If you take half an hour and look through his website, it will BLOW YOUR MIND! In the 9th grade, I was obviously ahead of my time because my best friend Charise and I also hand wrote the lyrics to Kriss Krosses "Jump Jump." My guess is that Bas Koopman is not so dorky as to then proceed to memorizing the dance routine. Just a hunch.
