Sometimes you watch Design Star and you are reassured that you are an awesome and talented designer then, !WHAM! you see Betsy Burnham's work and you are now wondering how they ever let you into a color theory class much less make a paycheck and get dental benefits. All self-loathing aside you need to see this Southern California designer's portfolio. Breathtaking, no?

ha! like the intro. Yes, Design star does boost my confidence. But I would never work on a team with half of those people, so I always feel sorry for the ones that seem to have potential and get stuck with weirdos. I've only seen 2 episodes. HGTV bothers me to the core.
ReplyDeleteLove Betsy's stuff. SO perfect.
Between that kitchen, the turquoise chair and that union jack dresser - I'm in LOVE!
ReplyDeleteThe first pic is almost hauntingly beautiful...that asymmetrical doorway opening is amazing...who thinks to do that! I saw Betsy's home when it was first published, and loved her style then, and even more now.
ReplyDeleteAs to Design Star?? They should call it Craft Star. As a designer, I have never put my "crafts" into a client's home, and I hate it that a national network like HGTV insults the real work of designers by comparing our job to what they do on that show. I'm pretty teed off about it!
Wow. Yeah. She rocks.
ReplyDeleteI'm really impressed at the fact that even the darkest of rooms don't look like caverns. Instead, they have a cozy, safe, enveloping feel.
i could totally see myself drinking a glass of wine in that lounger.
ReplyDeleteGreat post! Love the coral inspired pieces. And those punches of bold colors are really inspirational.
