Orchids Could Make a Prison Cell Look Pretty

One of my closest girlfriends got married this last weekend and happily I was asked to decorate the seating chart table. We filled it with gorgeous orchids, which I am now blissfully babysitting until the happy couple returns from their honeymoon. I am actually a little shocked at the impact three large potted orchids have had on my room. For about a $100 my living/dining room looks very handsomely dressed! I am once again reminded what a living plant can do to dress up a space. Here is a link for my new orchid desktop background. I think we should all be twinsies, so go download yours now!

  1. I love orchids...but I have heard that they are quite finicky flowers and haven't been brave enough to bring any home.

  2. Gorgeous, Amy! Lucky you! I love orchids, but I would be afraid I would kill them! Thanks for your comment, being virtually unemployed, it is easy to spend much time in the blogosphere! LOL! Love ya!

  3. I swoon every time I walk by the collection of orchids at Lowe's. I have always thought they were hard to take care of, but I have a friend who says that she just tosses hers a few ice cubes a week and it does just fine.

  4. I like the group of different sized pots. If I buy orchids it's like inviting plants to be murdered.

  5. Orchids are hands down the most amazing plant to me. They thrive just leaving them alone, and I love what putting them outside in the humidity of summer in the deep south does for them.
    I love these photos!
(You better prepare yourself, you will really miss them when their mama gets back!)

  7. I have killed many an orchid. I kept one alive for two years, flowers fell off and I had just what was left. I kept hoping it would flower again but it didn't. I live in Phoenix, we have no moisture, they must hate it. That poster is really nice.

  17. Loved the tittle post.
I have plants, at least 10 of them, the only thing is they are all in the balcony as they die the minute I bring them into the house.
So, when I have a dinner or just company and I want to step it up a knotch I just bring them all in.
The one thing I DO is make sure they are all in white planters, so they match the white floor... and the green stands out.
